About Us

This role is based in the award-winning Outreach and Access team within our External Relations Directorate. This extensive directorate has brought together an integrated Communications & Engagement and Student Recruitment & Marketing service including Design & Digital, Events and Advancement and the International Office. We are looking for team members who will quickly embed themselves into this agile environment but also demonstrate a willingness to embrace new technology and transformational change. Together we aim to cultivate a culture of the “continuous new”, staying updated with emerging technologies and best practice across the sector. 

About the Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Outreach and Access team for an experienced, highly motivated, and effective manager to oversee the strategic development and advancement of the University’s successful Matrix Accredited Information, Advice and Guidance service. The service provides expert, impartial advice to a broad range of prospective mature students particularly those who are underrepresented in higher education, to support decision-making, to build confidence and to develop progression plans and pathways tailored to individual needs. 

As the Information, Advice and Guidance Manager, you will be responsible for developing a strategic plan to establish new markets, increase the breadth of targeted engagement to initiate and build new relationships and raise awareness across a wider range of stakeholders and channels, optimise current activities and projects and identify and implement new opportunities to showcase the breadth of support and flexibility the University offers, and the experiences and successful outcomes of our mature learners.  

About You

We are looking for an individual who has a strong background in information, advice and guidance and customer service with a real passion for helping people through understanding. You will manage a team of passionate and enthusiastic careers professionals and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the university to offer the best possible service to our clients.

The role demands an astute leader with the ability to coach, advise, motivate and guide to create and maintain a high-performing team. We’re seeking a quick learner with a track record of success who can inspire the same in others.
