Our successful BA Performing Arts programme is now in its fourth year and we are seeking a new colleague to join the programme team. Applicants for the post will combine their experience of teaching and research in further and/or higher education with their professional experience in dance, movement practices & physical theatre.

We are seeking candidates with knowledge and experience of performing arts practice, with a particular skill set and experience in movement training, choreography (contemporary and mainstream) and Physical Theatre devising/directing for the stage. In addition, you will have professional directorial or creative production experience within the performing arts, and the ability to facilitate full scale collaborative interdisciplinary productions. We are looking for a candidate who is able to traverse both mainstream commercial and small-scale experimental dance/movement practices, with a record of professional practice in both.

You will ideally have a postgraduate qualification or be close to completion and/or have an established professional track record. Applicants should be able to contribute to undergraduate teaching and demonstrate actual or potential for research output in their specialist field. As we work collaboratively in the realisation and delivery of our modules, a strong ability to navigate learning outcomes in project-based learning, and a proven record of academic/practical collaboration skills would also be desirable. We would expect the candidate to be able to articulate contemporary performance theory through their practice in a highly accessible way to the students.

We are working actively to improve the diversity of our staff and particularly invite applications from under-represented groups and/or candidates who reflect the diverse student body at UEL.

Please note: This is a 0.6FTE post, working 3 days per week (21.6 hours). The pro rata starting salary range for Lecturer is £24,364 inclusive of London Weighting and £27,892 for Senior Lecturer.
