In addition to the BSc Psychology, we also provide undergraduate degrees in Psychology with Child Development, Clinical and Community Psychology, Forensic Psychology, as well as a hugely popular MSc Psychology (conversion) course and Masters routes in Coaching Psychology accredited by the EMCC among our applied psychology programmes. Many of our courses can be taken by distance learners and our breadth of provision incorporates a Foundation course in Psychology as well as a thriving research-based PhD programme. The psychology department is ranked #24 out of 115 in the Guardian&rsquo;s 2026 league table for best Universities at which to study Psychology. Alongside excellence in teaching, we also boast of an impressive research profile; in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) the school was one of only four submissions to secure 100% 4* rating for research impact. We actively support colleagues to develop their research plans and to submit grant applications and top-rated journal articles.</p><p><strong>About the Job</strong></p><p>This full-time lecturing role&nbsp;(0.5 FTE)&nbsp;requires the provision of top-quality learning experiences and administrative support for our student cohorts at both BSc and MSc levels. The work will include face-to-face teaching, online supplementary delivery where relevant, supervision of student research projects, setting and managing assessments, and providing academic advisory support in group and individual settings. The post requires expertise related to social psychology. Applicants for Senior Lectureship will be required to evidence and to undertake significant leadership roles.</p><p>The role requires providing top-quality teaching and administrative support to our student cohorts. The work will include face-to-face teaching, online supplementary delivery where relevant, supervision of student research projects, setting and managing assessments, and providing academic advisory support in group and individual settings. The post requires expertise in social psychology: we are looking for colleagues who can deliver Social Psychology, Research Methods (especially quantitative) and who can deliver supervision for student research projects at BSc and/or MSc levels. Ability to teach Coaching Psychology/Positive Psychology would be welcomed in addition. We have a passion for student-focused teaching and commitment to inclusive, culturally competent training, and to embedding EDI principles in curriculum and practice - &nbsp; and invite candidates who share these values.&nbsp;</p><p><br><strong>About the Job</strong></p><p>The Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) is an NHS-commissioned course training clinical psychologists to high standards and eligibility for the HCPC statutory register of practitioner psychologists. &nbsp;The course is central to regional health and mental health workforce development and is delivered through high-profile partnerships between the University and London NHS Trusts. &nbsp;The Academic Director role reflects and strengthens the University&#39;s position as a leading provider of postgraduate clinical psychology training, aligning with our strategic priorities in health innovation, community engagement, and interdisciplinary research.</p><p>We are seeking an experienced and motivated <strong>Clinical Tutor</strong> to contribute to our <strong>Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology</strong>. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in supporting trainees&rsquo; personal and professional development while contributing to clinical teaching, supervision, and programme leadership within the Department of Psychology and Human Development and the School of Childhood and Social Care.</p><p><strong>About you:</strong><br>&nbsp;The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of the professional, clinical &nbsp;and academic requirements of clinical training programmes in UK Higher Education and will contribute to the development of Clinical Psychology in the university through research and teaching.</p><p><br>&nbsp;As Clinical Tutor, you will:</p><ul type="disc"><li>Act as tutor to a specified year group of trainees, including line management responsibilities and monitoring overall progress.</li><li>Provide individual tutoring, including Mid-Placement and Annual Reviews.</li><li>Support delivery of the Personal and Professional Development unit.</li><li>Contribute to clinical skills teaching and other areas of the programme aligned with your expertise.</li><li>Lead or contribute to modules, including teaching (lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops) and assessment marking.</li><li>Participate in placement planning and monitoring in liaison with partner Clinical Tutor teams.</li><li>Support trainees and supervisors throughout placements, addressing challenges professionally and proactively.</li><li>Contribute to supervisor training initiatives.</li><li>Provide research and thesis supervision in line with experience.</li><li>Participate in programme meetings, assessment boards, validation events and team development activities.</li><li>Actively promote and work in accordance with UEL&rsquo;s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policy.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>Post-qualification employment experience within the NHS.</li><li>Knowledge of current professional issues within the NHS.</li><li>Experience teaching and assessing at postgraduate level.</li><li>Strong report writing skills.</li><li>Qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for Chartered Status.</li><li>Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>Research experience, ideally within the NHS.</li><li>Experience of clinical and research supervision at postgraduate level.</li><li>Experience working with Clinical and/or Counselling Psychology training programmes.</li><li>Experience supervising Clinical and/or Counselling Psychology trainees.</li></ul><p><strong>Key Competencies</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li>Strong problem-solving ability.</li><li>Excellent organisational skills.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively within a team.</li><li>Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse settings.</li><li>Flexibility and adaptability.</li><li>A clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion within a multicultural environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Join UEL?</strong></p><p>At UEL, you will join an inclusive, welcoming and ambitious community that is constantly evolving.
