If you have excellent administrative and IT skills plus a well-organised approach and are looking for a challenging role within a Governance & Compliance environment, join UEL as Immigration & Compliance Officer.

It’s a particularly exciting time here at UEL as, under our new 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, we’re committed to providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world, including increasing the diversity of the talent pipeline, particularly for Industry 4.0 jobs. We also want to position our east London location as being at both the heart of a major global gateway and the local community. And, right now, we’re looking for a customer-focused individual, possibly with experience of international student administration, to join our Governance & Legal Services team.

Your focus will primarily be in relation to Tier 4 of the Points Based System, but also include wider sponsorship duties placed by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) for other visa routes, such as Short Term Student, Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) and Tier 4 (Doctorate Extension Scheme). Day-to-day, we’ll rely on you to deliver a customer focused, effective and timely institutional response to our sponsor duties under Tier 4. You’ll also be responsible for carrying out the mandatory administrative record keeping and reporting required to maintain our Tier 4 Sponsor Licence. Helping a line-manager to develop and implement initiatives and processes to enhance our international compliance processes will be important too. And, all the while, you’ll need to work within sector best practice and the new International Compliance Network and adhere to the UKCISA Code of Ethics.

An understanding of Tier 4 student visa and compliance issues would be useful. However, that’s not as essential as your proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and organising own work to meet deadlines within a high-volume environment. Comfortable working as part of a team with a flexible approach to delivering team/institutional objectives, you have an understanding of equality issues within a diverse environment too. What’s more, you have excellent attention to detail and are adept at identifying and proposing solutions to issues such as improvement in service delivery. A willingness to sometimes work flexible hours is also required, together with a flair for building good working relationships and explaining complex information in an easy to understand way.

So, if you’re looking for your next challenge and would like to play an important role within a University that has been pioneering futures since 1898, here’s your opportunity.

UEL is a vibrant and diverse university located in Stratford and Docklands. We are developing and starting to implement a new strategy, Vision 2028, to transform our curriculum and partnerships to make a positive difference to student, graduate and community success. Our goal is to become the leading careers-focused, enterprising university in the UK, one which both prepares our students for the jobs of the future and provides the innovation to drive that future sustainably and inclusively.
