These four service areas facilitate effective decision making, improve our staff and student experience, and deliver lasting positive change.

About the Job

As Statutory Returns Officer you will use your proficiency with data tools and technologies to build high quality statutory data returns from a range of institutional data and information. You will work with stakeholders across the institution to exploit the data assets available, ensuring that the returns timescale can be met and that quality issues are identified and resolved.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of a team to deliver statutory data returns
  • Identification and exploitation of data sources to meet statutory data requirements
  • Joining of data sets to optimise and maximise data insight
  • Working across stakeholders to develop understanding of the statutory requirements, and ensuring that data quality is prioritised

About You

We are looking for a motivated Statutory Data Analyst to join our team and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality statutory data returns. This is an opportunity to use your specialist skills to shape how statutory data is managed, understood, and applied across our organisation.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sense of complex data.
  • Experience in handling statutory or regulatory data
  • Ability to collaborate across departments, including IT, schools, faculties, and external bodies.
  • A solutions focused mindset, embracing innovation, technology, and best-fit methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to advise, explain, and influence.

At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome, genuine camaraderie and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility and purpose. Your impact, resilience and sense of collegiality will directly contribute to the University’s future and those of the students whose lives you will touch and change forever. We also offer a great range of benefits including pension, family friendly policies and an on-site nursery and gym at our Docklands Campus.
