About Us 

We are Student Services and are responsible for nurturing wellness, supporting individual needs, helping students in crisis, improving retention, and enabling positive experiences through residential life and extra-curricular activities. Working in partnership across academic schools and professional services, our teams seek to provide a network of support throughout the student journey and aim to optimise student success.

The Student Services directorate is led by the Assistant Chief Operating Officer, Health Gain & Student Experience. Our department incorporates a number of professional and support teams including; Student, HUB, Student Conduct, Academic Tutoring, Residential Life, Student Disability and Dyslexia, Student Life, Student Money Advice and Rights Team, Student Engagement, Retention and Success and Student Wellbeing.


About the Job 

As the Projects and Campaigns Manager in Student Services you will lead a team of experts in Student Voice, Student Services Communications and Student Services Projects. 

Your role will involve: 

  • Maintaining a strong institution wide network of stakeholders that input into various strategic projects in student services 
  • This is a role with significant strategic importance with the team having project management responsibilities for both the University Mental Health Charter and the OFS E6 regulations, and pilot for the Emily Test Charter in England. 
  • You will be one of UEL’s expert sources of advice on creating a whole university approach to mental health and wellbeing.  

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Leading on sector recognised and pan university charter awards aimed at raising the Universities reputation nationally and internationally. 
  • Overseeing that the University is fulfilling the Office for Student Condition of Registration for Harassment and Sexual Misconduct. 
  • Acting as a senior point of contact and expert for project, communication, campaigns or student voice & co-production activities for students. 
  • Leading on implementation of the Student Services Marketing and Communications Strategy. 

Essential experience:  

  • A postgraduate degree, or equivalent postgraduate professional qualification or experience 
  • Prince 2 certification or equivalent professional qualification or experience 
  • Authoritative knowledge and understanding of sector charters and kitemarks, including an in-depth knowledge of a staff/student mental health and whole university approach to mental health 
  • Experience of leading and managing teams, with excellent leadership skills 
  • Significant experience and proven record for project management & co-ordination 
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers at all levels demonstrated by evidence of influencing and changing organisational policy or practice 
  • High-level written and oral communication skills with an ability to interpret complex data analyses and communicate essential information to relevant stakeholders in a clear and meaningful manner 


About You 

You are a collaborative leader with knowledge and experience of managing high stakes projects of a sensitive nature. You will have previous experience of managing successful charter, award or audit projects within Higher Education or a similar sector. 

You have experience working within or alongside student services experts, and bring skills relating to effective student communications, student voice and student co-creation.  

You should bring:  

  • Authoritative knowledge and understanding of sector charters and kitemarks. 
  • Excellent leadership skills with significant experience of leading and managing teams.
  • Proven record for project management & student related communications, campaigns and student voice projects.
