About the School / Service 

The Strategic Development & Delivery team works in partnership with stakeholders across the institution, combining our specialist expertise, sector knowledge and institutional awareness to support the delivery of our vision to 2028 and beyond.

This is a new Directorate for UEL and comprises of four main portfolios: Insights & Decision Support, Strategy & Performance, Portfolio & Benefits, and Change & Improvement. These four service areas will facilitate effective decision making, improve our staff and student experience, and deliver lasting positive change.

About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Portfolio & Benefits team within the Commercial & Programme Delivery Directorate.

The role will support the delivery of major strategic projects across the University, with an immediate and significant focus on the University's Student Records System (SRS) Transformation Programme. This is one of UEL's most strategically important transformation initiatives, delivering the implementation of Banner SaaS and transforming key student lifecycle processes across the institution.

Working within a complex and fast paced programme environment, you will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams through analysis, design, configuration, build, testing and implementation activities. You will work in partnership with subject matter experts, business analysts, technical teams, change specialists and external suppliers to ensure successful delivery of both system implementation and associated business transformation.

Alongside programme delivery responsibilities, you will contribute to the continued development of project and programme management capability across UEL. As a member of the Portfolio & Benefits team, you will support the enhancement of project management frameworks, governance, methodologies, tools and reporting practices, contributing to the ongoing maturity of the University's project management function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the delivery of key workstreams within the Student Records System (SRS) Transformation Programme, ensuring successful outcomes against agreed objectives, timelines and budgets.
  • Manage projects through the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to testing, implementation and business readiness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, suppliers and delivery teams to drive progress and achieve programme goals.
  • Build strong relationships across the University, facilitating workshops and decision-making forums to support engagement and consensus.
  • Manage project plans, risks, issues, dependencies, resources and budgets, ensuring effective governance and timely delivery.
  • Champion business process improvement and support the successful adoption of Banner SaaS and associated changes across the student lifecycle.
  • Produce clear and effective reports, updates and recommendations for senior stakeholders and programme governance groups.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and change activities that support user adoption and organisational readiness.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive delivery culture, promoting accountability, continuous improvement and shared success.
  • Contribute to the development of project management standards, best practice and capability across the University.
  • Support the realisation of programme benefits and deliver sustainable improvements that create lasting value for students and staff.

About You

You are an experienced and motivated Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering successful projects within large or complex organisations. You’re confident leading projects through the full lifecycle - from business case to delivery and transition to ensuring outcomes that create lasting impact.

You bring strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills, underpinned by excellent organisational ability, strategic awareness, and emotional intelligence. You’re resilient under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about driving positive change. Above all, you’re a collaborative, forward-thinking team player who’s excited to contribute to UEL’s Vision 2028 - helping shape the future through innovation, inclusion, and impact.
