About Us
At the University of East London (UEL), we are at a pivotal growth point. We are looking for a visionary leader to help us build our Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Neighbourhood Health Hub (NHH) from the ground up. This is your chance to move beyond day-to-day management and actually design the frameworks, governance, and quality systems that will define UEL’s research impact for years to come.
As part of our Vision 2028 strategy, you will work at the intersection of inclusive innovation and community impact, ensuring our research directly benefits the health systems of our local communities.
About the Job
Senior Trial Manager: Build the Future of Clinical Research at UEL
Location: Stratford Campus (ICC / Neighbourhood Health Hub) Duration: 2-year fixed term (with potential for growth as the CTU expands)
The Opportunity: Shape a Legacy
Most Senior Trial Manager roles involve stepping into an existing machine. This role is different.
Your Impact
In this role, you won't just follow SOPs—you will create them. You will be the bridge between high-level strategy and operational excellence.
- Establish the Blueprint: Lead the development of robust governance and quality management frameworks for the full trial lifecycle.
- Lead & Mentor: Build and manage a high-performing team of Trial Coordinators and Data Managers, fostering a culture of compliance and excellence.
- Collaborate with Experts: Work alongside senior academic leaders in public health, psychology, and clinical sciences, as well as our NHS partners.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the delivery of trials using modern platforms like REDCap to ensure the highest standards of data integrity.
Are You the One?
We are looking for a "builder"—someone who is motivated by the challenge of creating institutional capability.
About You
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- Proven Expertise: Significant experience managing the full lifecycle of clinical trials within a university or CTU setting.
- Regulatory Mastery: Deep knowledge of UK clinical trial regulations, GCP, and research governance.
- Leadership Presence: The confidence to lead staff and engage with senior clinicians and academic partners.
- Technical Savvy: Hands-on experience with clinical data platforms (like REDCap) and developing SOPs from scratch.
- Educational Foundation: A degree in a relevant field (Medical, Nursing, or Life Sciences), ideally paired with a postgraduate qualification.
Experience with CTIMPs and pharmacovigilance is the "cherry on top" that will help you hit the ground running.
